LAGRANGE COUNTY — Flexible Auto Sales is under investigation for scamming their customers by rolling back odometers.

The Indiana Secretary of State announced that their team is joining the Attorney General’s investigation into the Shipshewana auto dealer owned by John Allen. They say he rolled back millions of miles on the odometers to vehicles sold to dozens of Hoosiers.

Agents from the Secretary of State working under the Auto Dealer Services Division have regulatory and enforcement authority over new and used car dealers and can suspend an auto dealer’s operating permit if laws are being violated.

Secretary of State Diego Morales said in a press release that any consumers should report suspicious dealers. “Our office will not tolerate auto dealers using unlawful tactics to take advantage of Hoosiers. We take these matters seriously and will work to make sure only legitimate auto dealers are doing business in our state.”

Depending on the outcome of the investigation, Allen faces penalties that range from fines to suspending or revoking the dealer’s operating license.
