WARSAW — Warsaw Community High School senior Hailey Booher has been selected to participate in the National Career Development Conference in Orlando which began Thursday.

Officials at the state level have asked Hailey to act as a delegate. She will be one of two students from Indiana who will act as an ambassador for the competitors.

The National Career Development Conference (NCDC) is the annual highlight event, providing an opportunity for all National Career Association members to participate in general sessions, competitive events, educational workshops, leadership development training, and college and career exploration.  The NCDC also serves as a recognition opportunity for NCA members to demonstrate the competencies gained in the classroom through the NCA National Recognition and Competitive Events Program and participation in other NCDC activities.

As a delegate, Hailey will act as a representative of the National Career Association members and assist with various duties during the event. Hailey shared that she is excited to meet new people at the conference and recognizes that this is a rare opportunity.  She shared, “It’s an honor that they think that I’m a good representative of JAG. I’m very excited for the conference!”

Hailey said her involvement with JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) has helped her learn valuable time management skills and gain real-world experience in the community.  It also allowed her to participate in regionals and state, which led to her nomination for the National Leadership Conference in Florida. Hailey was originally recognized as the outstanding senior in the JAG regional competition and went on to place in the top three at the state level.

When asked about her relationship with her JAG advisor, Miss Madison Sims, Hailey spoke highly of her patience and support. Hailey “Miss Sims is always there for me. She also makes time to be available and she is willing to work around my busy schedule. I’m grateful to have had her as an advisor.

After graduation, Hailey will be attending Depauw University, where she has been awarded a full tuition scholarship for four years as part of the prestigious Rector Scholars program.

Hailey will be majoring in psychology and said she selected Depauw’s highly regarded psychology program as one of the main reasons for choosing the school. In addition to her academic interests, Hailey is also heavily involved in human services, enjoys playing unified sports and plays in a classic rock band with her friends.
