BOURBON – A Bourbon man was arrested Wednesday on charges of domestic battery with moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony.
Terry J. Shaw, 39, of 317 W. Park Ave., Bourbon, was arrested at 1:01 p.m. Wednesday. Shaw is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $6,000 bond.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, on July 9, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department officer met with a female victim in regards to being battered by her husband, Terry Shaw.
The victim told the officer earlier in the day that she and her husband were arguing outside their residence. During the argument, the victim started to fear for her safety and attempted to retreat to her vehicle to escape. Shaw allegedly also entered the vehicle, so she tried to get away by climbing into the backseat at which time her husband pushed her, causing her face to hit the backseat.
The victim told the officer that Shaw climbed on top of her and grabbed her by the neck. As a result of the abuse, the right side of the victim’s face was swollen, her right hand had a small cut and she was experiencing a great deal of pain in her right shoulder. The officer observed and photographed the injuries to the victim’s face and hand.
As a result of the battery, a no contact order has been issued against Shaw from contacting the victim.
