Columbia City Man Identified As Victim Of Labor Day Weekend Boat Crash

A Columbia City man has been identified as the victim of a boat crash that happened over Labor Day weekend. Indiana Conservation Officers say 53 year old Jeffery Melvin sharply veered into the path of another watercraft being operated by a friend and collided with it.  The friend's watercraft hit Melvin's and was launched over it, hitting Melvin in the process. Melvin had injuries to the right side of his torso and died from his injuries Monday night at Samaritan Hospital in Fort Wayne. No foul play is suspected, but the investigation continues.
