WARSAW — One of the early arrivals to the Kosciusko County Fair on Monday afternoon was Congressman Rudy Yakym and his family.

Yarkym, members of his family and a staffer arrived at the fair at about 1:15 and headed to the Kosciusko County Beef and Pork Producers building for a ribeye steak sandwich.

He told News Now Warsaw he’s felt at home at county fairs ever since growing up south of the fairgrounds in South Bend.4

He said their group visited fairs in Fulton, Cass and LaPorte counties on Sunday.

“I’m kind of a fair junkie. I love getting out to county fairs,” Yakym said. “For us, it’s a great way to get out as a family and see what’s going on in the district.”

After the visit, He and his family were then headed off to Washington D. C. as Congress returns to session Tuesday to consider a vote on the National Defense Authorization Act.

So far, the first-term Republican Congressman has avoided endorsing anyone running for either president or governor of Indiana.

“That’s a decision for down the road. Right now, we’re focused on Indiana’s Second Congressional district, making sure we do the best we can to represent Hoosiers,” he said.
