Deborah A. Wiggins

Deborah A. Wiggins, age 69 and a longtime resident of Warsaw, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 10:40 a.m.

Born in Michigan City, IN on January 26, 1953, Deb, as most knew her, was the daughter of Wilbert and Gloria (Chlebowski) Green. She was a 1971 graduate of Elston High School and a 1975 graduate of Purdue University. On September 26, 1980, Deb was married to Ernest “Ernie” Wiggins. The pair shared nearly forty-two years together before her passing.

Professionally, Deb spent much of her career in non-profits and education – both of which she was passionate about. She served as Executive Director of Michigan City Chamber of Commerce, Warsaw Chamber of Commerce, National Consortium of Breast Centers and in various other positions including the boards of Kosciusko County Animal Welfare League, the Catherine Peachey Fund and Warsaw Community School Board where she served as President. She also taught at Redeemer Lutheran School and was an avid reader, especially of murder mysteries and science-fiction.

Readily present in her children’s lives, she rarely missed a sporting event or activity as they were growing up. She loved being a grandmother and was excited to soon welcome a fourth grandchild; she enjoyed time spent around the pool and at family events. Deb also enjoyed euchre and had a heart for animals. She is remembered for her steadfastness, her feisty personality, and her dedicated, passionate ways.

Those who survive with memories to cherish include husband, Ernie Wiggins of Warsaw; son, Christopher “Chris” Wiggins (wife, Sarah) of Warsaw and Elizabeth “Liz” German (husband, Christopher) of Denver, CO; three grandchildren: Nash, Stella and Crew Wiggins and sister, Kathryn Pasky (husband, Michael) of Michigan City. She was preceded in passing by her parents and her brother, Gilbert Green.
