Donnelly’s Proposal To Stop Drug Abuse

As part of their ongoing efforts to address the nation’s growing heroin and prescription drug epidemics, Senator Joe Donnelly has introduced a proposal that aims to stop the abuse of both. He’s one of two lawmakers proposing a task force comprised of prescribers, pharmacists, officials from the Department of Health and Human Services, the Defense Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the V-A, and others who are responsible for developing the best practices in the prescribing of pain medication and pain management, and authorizes a program to assist states in the planning, implementation, and enhancement of a drug monitoring programs and gives money to states to fight drug abuse and its effects.
