Dorothy Mae Brown

Dorothy Mae Brown, 95, of Pierceton, died Monday August 8, 2022 at Paddock Springs Senior Living in Warsaw.

Dorothy was born in Rensselaer on September 15, 1926, the daughter of (the late) George and Bertha (Pollex) Fleck.

She graduated from Laketon High School with the Class of ’44 and on October 4, 1946, Dorothy married Alton Brown in Wabash; he preceded her in death on January 3, 1989 after 42 years of marriage. She loved working the family farm, and also enjoyed caring for her substantial flower garden at her home. Dorothy was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she was an active member of the Rosary Society, women’s groups and the Altar Guild, where she provided fresh Altar flowers from her garden for many years.  She was a dedicated wife, mother & grandmother who cherished & enjoyed her family; she was an accomplished cook & baker and known for her wonderful pies. She also enjoyed sewing and crochet, creating the baby blankets for all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her children; Steven (Tami) Brown of Greenfield, Annette (Dan) Knepper of Warsaw, Stanley (Elaine) Brown of South Whitley, Scott (Kim) Brown of Warsaw, Spencer (Penny) Brown of Leesburg, Phillip Shannon (Susan) Brown of Converse and her nephew Jeff (Joie) Lotz of South Whitley; her brother, Howard Fleck of Cincinnati OH; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Dorothy was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Angela Brown; grandsons, Kameron Brown and Joshua Brown; nephew, Max Lotz; 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

Mass of Christian Burial 11:00am Saturday August 13, 2022 in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 405 W. Catholic St. in Pierceton. Visitation is from 4-8pm Friday in McHatton Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Ct. in Warsaw. Burial in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Pierceton.
