Elkhart Man Found Guilty Of Battery In The Presence Of A Child

An Elkhart County man has been found guilty of Domestic Battery in the Presence of a Child. It was back in April when prosecutors say Joshua Richmond tackled his wife to the ground after an argument regarding his use of synthetic marijuana. Richmond's wife hit her head on their hardwood floor. It took two men who were at the home to get Richmond off of her.  The attack happened while the couples’ five children, ages 2 to 8 watched. Richmond originally testified he laid his hands on his wife of fear for his personal safety because she was continuously hitting him about the head and face. Later, though, he admitted that he had taken his wife to the floor while she was blocking his path into other parts of the residence where the children were located after he had become irate and began breaking things.
