Former Notre Dame provost tops list of highest-paid college presidents

A former Notre Dame provost is the nation’s highest-paid college president.

Wake Forest president Nathan Hatch earns over $4 million per year, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education’s report on college president wages. That breaks down to almost $840,000 in base pay, a little over $150,000 a year in bonuses and benefits, and about $3 million dollars in deferred compensation to be paid out of a number of years in the future.

Hatch was 32nd in college president earnings in 2014, according to Forbes.

Hatch served as a Notre Dame provost from 1996 to 2005. As for Notre Dame’s president? The report states that The Reverend John Jenkins earns just a little over $1 million a year.
