The Fort Wayne International Airport is getting some national attention.

In an article about larger airlines coming back to midsize US cities, the Wall Street Journal specifically points out Fort Wayne, and how American Airlines has brought back flights to and from Philadelphia.

American had dropped the route last August, but airport director Scott Hinderman says the route was profitable when it got discontinued, and now with it returning the airport should see its growth continue: the Fort Wayne airport saw traffic increase for the 8th straight year.

With jet fuel prices almost half what they were in 2011, many airlines are moving back to medium and small markets, also thanks to increased demand.
