Warsaw Community Schools hires for new Social Emotional Learning Coordinator role

Warsaw Community Schools has filled a newly-created role.

The Social Emotional Learning Coordinator is a position created through Lilly Endowment Grant funds. Gina Courtois has been hired for the position. She’s been an educator at Madison Elementary for the past 17 years, but will officially assume the SEL role this summer.

A press release from the school says the new position will include “work to build and deepen a positive school climate and culture by training on how to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals and feelings and show empathy for others.”

Courtois will be responsible for the direct support to school staff on SEL programming including standards, staff development, curriculum and assessment.

Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert says Warsaw Community Schools is excited to have Courtois in the new position.

“Her years of experience and expertise working with both WCS teachers and students will be a great strength in the Social Emotional Learning Coordinator position,” he explains. “We look forward to working alongside Courtois to develop and expand social emotional wellness inside of all of our buildings.”
