Goshen woman facing charges after buggy collision injures four

Staff Report

WARSAW — A Goshen woman accused of hitting a horse-drawn buggy Friday night in Kosciusko County before fleeing the scene is believed to have been well over the legal limit for alcohol.

24-year-old Jakayla Miracle was behind the wheel in an accident shortly after 7 p.m. on SR 19 near CR 1050N, according to a report by the Times-Union.

Miracle struck the buggy from behind, police believe.

Minutes later, dispatch received a call about a vehicle driving east in the westbound lanes of US 30 near County Road 800W.

A Warsaw police officer then conducted a traffic stop near CR 350W.

Miracle denied being involved in the accident and attributed the heavy front-end damage on her vehicle to a deer accident.

Four people were injured, including 41-year-old Lori Miller of Napanee, who was in the intensive care unit at Memorial Hospital in South Bend with a brain bleed and other injuries.

Miracle was being held at the Kosciusko County Jail on a $20,000 bond and is facing several charges.

Court documents said Miracle’s preliminary alcohol test results were 0.14.

Polie also found alcoholic beverages inside her vehicle.
