A recent radio grant that was applied for in Kosciusko County could be a boon for county fire departments when it comes to their radios.

County EMA Director Ed Rock, speaking at Friday’s county commissioner’s meeting, said he recently submitted an Assistance to Firefighters Grant for just under $1 million that would be for fire department radios.

Rock said if the grant was approved, the work order would go through the county and the fire departments would pay back their portion over the next three years. He says it could go a couple different ways:

Rock went on to say that through all eleven volunteer fire departments in the county, each firefighter costs about $2,600 when it comes down to all of their gear and other expenses. The grant would help ease some of those expenses.
