Harrison County Employe Suing Over Alleged Religious Discrimination

A former Harrison County Clerk’s Office employee is suing over alleged religious discrimination. Linda Summers was fired after refusing to process gay marriage applications, saying it is against her “sincerely held” religious beliefs. Summers' attorney Richard Master says his client believes it was wrong for her as an employee to process applications for conduct she regards as sinful.  Masters said she worked for the clerk’s office for 6 years. Summers is suing for compensation, looking to recover lost wages and benefits. The lawsuit was filed last week, and she was let go in December of 2014.
