Heated VA Hearing

Members of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee became enraged during a hearing, Thursday, about the V.A. Purchase Card program.

This, after reports that the same V.A. program  was improperly spending $6 billion annually, wasting taxpayer money and possibly putting veterans at risk.

2nd District House Representative Jackie Walorski was among the lawmakers demanding to know why Edward Murraw, the V.A's interim chief financial officer did little to stop the health system from buying more than $1 billion in prosthetics and other medical supplies without competitive bidding and proper contracts.

Some of the improper spending was done by employees who were not authorized to use the cards.
