WARSAW — Hobby Lobby is coming to The Marketplace of Warsaw.
John Murphy, chief financial officer and chief operating officer of Sullivan Wickley, a Georgia-based real estate agency that owns the shopping center, confirmed, saying, “They are coming to The Marketplace of Warsaw.”
The store will be about 50,000 square feet and (renovations) will be completed toward the end of next year, Murphy said in a telephone interview Wednesday afternoon.
“The goal is to open by fall. I don’t know the exact date, but Hobby Lobby is finally coming to the city, and we’re very pleased, and it should be a great addition to the shopping center, and it will be a good use for the community, and we’re happy to help bring them to the city.”
The store is Hobby Lobby’s “prototype” for their stores, Murphy said.
It will be located in the area formerly home to Shoe Sensation.
The Marketplace was about 14% leased when Sullivan Wickley bought the property several years ago, working with the city of Warsaw. They have since added tenants like Ollie’s, Gabe’s, Planet Fitness, Bealls and others.
With the addition of Hobby Lobby, Murphy said the Marketplace is substantially leased, and the goal is to eventually get all of it leased.
Tipping off Hobby Lobby addition was a legal advertisement scheduled to run in Friday’s Times-Union.
It states Hobby Lobby Stores Inc., Oklahoma City, Okla., is submitting a notice of intent to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) “of our intent to comply with the requirements of Construction Stormwater General Permit (CSGP) to discharge storm water from construction activities associated with Marketplace Warsaw Hobby Lobby located at 2884 Frontage Road” in Warsaw. Runoff from the project site will discharge to the Pike Lake inlet, the legal advertisement states.
