Hursey’s Guilty Plea Accepted For Involvement Of Syracuse Murders

A judgment of conviction was entered Thursday against 29 year old Thomas Glen Hursey of Warsaw, after Kosciusko County Circuit Court judge Michael Reed accepted his plea agreement for his role in the murders of 23 year old Tara Thornburg, and 19 year old Joshua Knisley on Feb. 19 of 2015.

In return, two charges of murder against Hursey were dropped and he agreed to a 20-year state prison sentence. Brandon Woody and Kyle DeHart were found guilty by a jury in October. Both were sentenced to over 100 years in prison each.

Hursey testified during Woody and DeHart’s trial, admitting he was at the Syracuse home of Thornburg and Knisley when Woody pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired upon both victims.

The last person facing charges in the case is DeHart’s mother, Joan DeHart. She is due back in court Feb. 27 on a charge of assisting a criminal in that she allegedly provided an alibi for her son and helped Woody out of the area.
