Indiana County Plans To Start An Aquaculture Park

A central Indiana county is working on plans to start an aquaculture park in hopes of attracting more business connected with fish production. The proposed 60-acre aquaculture near the Delaware County town of Albany would be next to Bell Aquaculture, which has the capacity to produce more than 2 million pounds of fish a year in its indoor tanks. Delaware County economic development alliance vice president Terry Murphy tells The Star Press he believes it would be the first aquaculture park in the state. Murphy says the park about 10 miles northeast of Muncie could host aquaculture research and be the site of fish fertilizer plants or a fish food mill. The plan includes $2 million in road and drainage improvements and $850,000 for extending utility lines.
