Last week, the US Department of Labor announced the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) would receive almost $1.5 million federal grant dollars to go toward unemployment insurance technology initiatives. The USDOL grant is geared to help the state improve it's technology systems and more importantly, combat fraud. Indiana is the nation's leader in implementing integrity activities and the grant was part of the DWD's efforts to have the most technologically advanced unemployment insurance system. The USDOL dispersed about $66.2 million from the Program Integrity Project fund. That money was given to 47 states to help expand data exchange systems, as well as other technology improvements.
