Indiana State Budget

They are a still a few months away from returning to the State House, but Hoosier Lawmakers will soon be tackling a new state budget. The two-year spending plan will be the first drafted by Governor Mike Pence's administration. The state budget committee will hold hearings in November and December. According to the Journal-Gazette , department heads have been told to tighten their spending by three-percent. And to find ways to pay for expanded programs by cuts in other areas.  The newspaper report says agencies will rank programs to help justify spending. The 2013-15 budget totalled more than $15 billion each year.
