There were plenty of games and activities for children to take part in at Friday evening’s Family Carnival at Central Park in Warsaw.
A row of inflatables at the west parking lot allowed kids to bounce and bump. Face painting was popular, as was the balloon animals by “Twister Mike.”
Children could play plinko, bubble mower race, ping pong ball toss, fish, hit the balls at the miniature golf course or try to throw the hula hoops around the fire hydrants.
Volunteers – like Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department laborer Andy Wright – sat in a dunk tank. If a kid hit the target with a ball, down in the water the volunteer went.
The Igloo offered ice cream, while another food stand offered kettle and caramel corn and drinks.
Debra Collier’s School of Dance provided entertaining dance numbers. The school also had a booth for more information, as did the Girl Scouts of America.
To participate in the annual Family Carnival activities, parents bought tickets for their children. Wrist bands were $10, and tickets were 25 cents each. Most games were one or two tickets to participate. Proceeds went back to the Parks Department for future events.
The Carnival was made possible by the Parks Department, along with sponsorship from Penguin Point, Winona IT, Grossnickle Eye Center and Via Credit Union.
“We’re thankful for the beautiful weather to bring families together in Central Park for the annual Family Carnival,” Parks Recreation Director Sheila Wieringa said.
