MIAMI COUNTY — A Kokomo man is in jail after police say he led them on a pursuit in Miami and Cass Counties on Monday. Indiana State Police Sargent Tony Slocum says 38-year old Donnie Cox, Jr. was arrested after he led troopers on an eleven-minute chase starting in Miami County near Grissom Air Force Base.

Police say the pursuit began around 6:09 PM, when a trooper was looking for Cox, Jr. in the area of State Road 218 and Miami County Road 500 West. The trooper was investigating an invasion of privacy and intimidation case allegedly involving the man. Police say when the trooper spotted Cox, Jr. driving a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer and attempted a stop, Cox, Jr. allegedly took off, beginning the pursuit.

ISP says the pursuit ended after the vehicle became disabled in a cornfield in rural Cass County, near the community of Onward, and that’s when Cox, Jr. took off on foot. Authorities say the man initially evaded officers, but was eventually captured just before midnight near Alto Road and State Road 931 in Kokomo.

Cox, Jr. faces ten criminal charges including resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, resisting law enforcement, invasion of privacy, intimidation, theft, reckless driving, three counts of criminal mischievous, and driving after never having received an operator’s license.
