A leader in the community has passed away. Kosciusko County Council President Bob Sanders died Sunday at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne following a heart attack a week earlier. He was 69.

Sanders and his wife, Sharon, were longtime owners of Bodkin Abstract, which was sold to Metropolitan Title Co. late last year.

Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer says he was shocked and saddened to hear of Sanders passing.

Mayor Thallemer tells News Now Warsaw that despite being a jovial guy, Sanders took his duties as a community leader and elected official very seriously. He calls Sanders a “good guy” who served our community marvelously.

The Times Union reports Kosciusko County’s Republican leaders are expected to announce plans for a caucus to replace Sanders seat on the County Council.
