Leesburg Crash Injures 3 People



KCSD Press Release- Kosciusko County Sheriff Deputies are currently investigating a vehicular crash from Tuesday evening near Leesburg that injured three drivers.

Preliminary investigation by the Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. Team indicated that at approximate 5:14 p.m., a 2005 Chrysler driven by 34 year old Jaqueline M. Dominguez, Nappanee was traveling southbound on State Road 15 approaching the intersection of County Road 600 North.
A 2002 Pontiac driven by 45 year old Melinda G. Powell, Leesburg, was also southbound and slowing to turn east onto County Road 600 North, in front of the Dominguez vehicle.  For an unknown reason, Dominguez struck the rear portion of the Powell vehicle, and then continued into the northbound lane of State Road 15.  Dominguez’s vehicle then struck a northbound, 2001 Ford SUV driven by 25 year old Shaina E. Harrell, Warsaw, virtually head-on.
Leesburg/Plain Township Fireman requested the immediate assistance from Warsaw/Wayne Township Fire Territory, to extricate both Dominguez and Powell from their respective vehicles due to the severe damage.  
Dominguez was transported from the scene to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, in serious condition.  Powell was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital in fair condition, as Harrell was airlifted from the scene by Parkview Samaritan and taken to Memorial Hospital, South Bend, in very serious condition.
Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. investigators stated that the crash is still under investigation, pending legal toxicology results on all drivers as required by Indiana law.

The Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. Team was assisted at the scene by the Leesburg/Plain Township Fire Department, Warsaw/Wayne Township Fire Territory, Multi-Township E.M.S., and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
