Local Halloween Events

Trick-or-treat hours and Halloween events have been set in several towns in the area.

Here is the list by town alphabetically:

Akron

Trick-or-treat, Oct. 30, 6 to 8 p.m.

Costume judging will start at 5:30 p.m. at the fire station. Stop by the downtown plaza for a designated decorated photo background spot.

Atwood

Otterbein United Methodist Church, 306 E. Main St., Atwood, will hold a trunk-or-treat in their parking lot from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.  Oct. 29.

Claypool

• There will be no door-to-door trick-or-treating in Claypool this year. The Claypool Town Council voted to close off Main Street from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Oct. 31 for a trunk-or-treat.

Someplace Saloon will offer chili and hotdogs and a kids’ bike giveaway.

Etna Green

Trick-or-treat, Oct. 30, 5 to 7 p.m.

Leesburg

Trick-or-treat, Oct. 30, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Mentone

• Mentone United Methodist Church, 116 E. Main St., will have trunk-and-treat in front of the church Oct. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m.

• The Mentone Chamber of Commerce’s trick-or-treating will be Oct. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a costume judging contest at 7:30 p.m. at Mentone Elementary School.

Milford

Trick-or-treat, Oct. 30, 6 to 8 p.m.

North Manchester

Manchester University Monster Mash trick-or-treat is on the Manchester Mall again this year for local children. It is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 28.

If weather moves activities inside the Cordier Auditorium Lobby, all participants will be required to wear a mask face covering and practice social distancing.

The Monster Mash Haunted Forest is also making a return this year. It is 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the wooded trails near Schwalm Hall.

North Webster

Trick-or-treat, Oct. 30, 6 to 8 p.m.

Pierceton

Trick-or-treat, Oct. 30, 5 to 7 p.m.

Sidney

Trick-or-treat, 5 to 7 p.m., Oct. 30.

Silver Lake

• The town of Silver Lake and the Silver Lake Lions Club are sponsoring “Halloween Happenings” Oct. 31. The outside event will be held at Memory Park. Hours will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. while supplies last. Treats will be handed out to all children.

• Trick-or-treat, 6 to 7:30 p.m., Oct. 31.

Syracuse

• The Syracuse Public Library will participate in the Syracuse Parks and Recreation’s drive-thru trick or treat. Bring the children to this trick-or-treating event from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 30.

• The Haunted Thrill at Crosson Mill will take place Oct. 23 and 24 and Oct. 29 and 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. at $5 per person.

• A drive-through trick-or-treat will be at the Syracuse Community Center Oct. 30 from 3 to 5 p.m..

• Townwide trick-or-treat hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

Warsaw

• 2021 Downtown Warsaw Spooktacular, Oct. 29, costume contest registration 5:30 to 6 p.m., trick-or-treat 6 to 7 p.m., costume contest 7 to 8 p.m. Sponsored by Warsaw Community Development Corporation, city of Warsaw, Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club and Miller’s Merry Manor.

• Warsaw Masonic Lodge #73, 1620 W. Center St., Warsaw, will hold its first annual trunk-or-treat Oct. 29 from 5 to 8 p.m.

• The staff at Lake City Place Senior Living, 425 Chinworth Court, Warsaw, would like to distribute Halloween treats for community kids. Knowing the residents at Lake City Place Senior Living would like to see children in costumes, but unfortunately, the senior living center is still not able to welcome large groups into the building.

In an attempt to recreate the experience, Lake City Place Senior Living will have trick-or-treat on the front porch Oct. 29 from 3 to 5 p.m.

• Pathway Church, 2402 W. Old 30, Warsaw, will hold trunk-n-treat Oct. 31 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. There will be inflatables, cotton candy and candy.

Enter off of Riverwood Ranch Road.

• Parkview Warsaw YMCA will have a trunk-or-treat Oct. 30 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Games include Monster Throw, Witches Hat Ring toss, Candy Wheel, Don’t Drop the Pumpkin and Zombie Eyeball Toss.

There will be a bake sale benefitting the YMCA’s counselor in training program.

• Trick-or-treat, Oct. 30, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Winona Lake

• Grace College will host its 31st annual FunFest Oct. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Gordon Health and Wellness Center, 100 Publishers Drive, Winona Lake. FunFest is free and open to all children and their families. This year’s theme is carnival. Children are invited to dress up in the carnival theme or in the costume of their choosing.
