Lucia “Lucy” Gonzalez

Lucia “Lucy” Gonzalez of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away to be the Lord on April 25, 2022, with her family by her side at the age of 73.

Lucia was born on March 4, 1949 in La Sierra, Zacatecas, Mexico to Jesus “Chuy” and Ana Maria (Avelar) Saldivar where she lived until the family moved to a small farm outside of Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico as a young adult.  It was there, at the age of 28, she met Jose M. Gonzalez, a year later he became her husband and together they formed their family.

She lived in Kosciusko County, Indiana for the past 23 years, where she helped to provide for her family working at Maple Leaf Farms in Milford, Indiana.  She enjoyed the fellowship of her church family at Iglesia Betesda Asambleas de Dios in Warsaw.  Besides raising her four children, Lucia enjoyed cooking for her ten grandchildren, reading her Bible, listening to Spanish worship on Radio Nueva Vida and watching cooking shows on YouTube.  She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be dearly missed by all.

She will be lovingly remembered by her four children all of Warsaw, Indiana, son, Pablo Gonzalez, and three daughters, Norma Sanchez, Marisa (Samuel) Peña, and Elizabeth (Antonio) Rodriguez.  Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Alyssa, Itzel, Aaron, Pablo Isai, Isaac, Aydan, Eli, Samuel James, Nataly, and two-month old Ellyse Lucia, as well as her mother, Ana Maria Saldivar, three brothers and six sisters.  She was preceded in death by her father, Jesus “Chuy” Saldivar, sister, Mari, brother, Miguel, and her husband of 37 years, Jose M. Gonzalez who passed away on September 3, 2015.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Iglesia Betesda Asambleas de Dios Church, 720 McClellan Street, Warsaw, Indiana.  Lucia’s life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Iglesia Betesda Asambleas de Dios Church and officiated by Pastor Samuel Peña.  Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.  Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
