Using re-usable shopping bags helps protect the environment from all those plastic sacks. Learn how to make one at North Webster Community Public Library.

Instructor Teresa Zurcher will conduct a Make-A-Bag Workshop 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8 and
show you how to make your own re-usable shopping bag. The workshop is free with green fabric provided. However, participants need to bring their own sewing machine, green thread, straight pins and measuring tape. Pre-registration is required. Class size will be limited to allow for social distancing. To register, sign up in advance at the library’s circulation desk or call 574-834-7122.

In conjunction with United Way of Kosciusko County, North Webster Library has been
designated a registration spot for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. This non-profit initiative provides free high quality, age-appropriate books to children ages birth to five years old. Registered children receive a free book mailed to their home each month. The books are age specific, so siblings of different ages receive different books. The program is available to all children under age five with no income requirements. Registration forms and information are available at the Youth Services desk. After the parents fill out the form, the library staff can mail the form for them or parents can mail it themselves. The library’s Youth Services Departmentalso has a large collection of quality children’s books that can be borrowed for free.

When cleaning out that spare room or basement, remember the library continues to accept
book donations as long as they are clean and in good condition. It cannot accept books that are dirty, mildewed, moldy, torn or in disrepair. Neither can the library accept VHS cassettes, audio cassettes or text books. Books that are not added to the library’s collection are given to the Friends of the Library organization for its book sales with proceeds going to support the work of the library.
