Man Charged In Beating Death Of I.U. Student

The man accused in the beating death of an Indiana University student is now formally charged with murder. 49 year-old Daniel Messel of Bloomington is accused of killing 22-year-old Hannah Wilson. According to court documents, investigators found blood in Messel's vehicle and discovered his cellphone next to Wilson's body. It says she was last seen around 1 o'clock Friday morning getting into a taxi alone outside a bar in Bloomington after friends determined she was too drunk. Her body was found later that morning in Brown County, about 10 miles from the IU campus. The coroner says she had been struck about four times in the head, crushing her skull. Investigators are also checking to see if there are any ties or similarities to the case of Lauren Spierer. She's the IU student who went missing after a night out with friends in June 2011.
