Just after 4:20 p.m., Feb. 14., officers from the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department and the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department responded to a tip about an alleged burglary suspect in the area. That tip led officers to Wabash County Road 400 North near Wabash County Road 500 East.

When deputies arrived, they located 29-year-old Travis Tucker of Kokomo, the alleged suspect. He was inside a pickup truck that was in a field. He was also armed with a shotgun.

At some point, there was what police describe as an “incident” that led to three Wabash County officers and one Huntington County officer shooting at Tucker. Despite life-saving measures Tucker died at the scene.

No officers were injured in the incident, but few details as to what led to the shooting have been released. Meantime, officials with the Indiana State Police Department are investigating.
