A Fort Wayne man who kidnapped, beat and raped a gas station clerk has been sentenced.

Ronnie McKinney, 57, was sentenced to 52 years Friday morning for rape, kidnapping and battery.

In April, police were called to Phil’s One Stop gas station on Goshen Avenue after someone set off the panic alarm. When police arrived, they found no one at the gas station, but they did find several drops of blood behind the counter.

Ten minutes later, police received a 911 call from a woman a block away who told them, “send help, he’s going to kill me.”

The clerk who made the call was found running down Goshen Avenue with a puncture wound to the neck. She told police McKinney had kidnapped her at knife point.

In court Friday, the victim said her injuries included a broken eye socket, blood on the brain, and facial reconstruction because of the attack.

McKinney said he feels “real sad about it”, and that he regrets his actions.
