Manchester University’s new College of Business named after professor

The College of Business at Manchester University is to be named after a professor emeritus of accounting.

The Arthur L. Gilbert College of Business will be located on the second floor of the Chinworth Center. The University is breaking ground on the entire center in May.

Gilbert was a faculty member at Manchester from 1958 until retirement in 1998 and led the growth of accounting at the school. In fact, he started the accounting major in 1971.

The Arthur L. Gilbert College of Business will pay tribute to his teaching and the impact he had on the University and students.

Construction will start this summer and the Chinworth Center and Gilbert College of Business will open in Fall 2019.
