Maple Leaf Farms has been given a top food safety rating for the ninth year in a row.

The Milford facilities were given an “AA” rating by the British Retail Consortium (BRC), an accreditation body for Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certification. The rating is the highest achievable BRC rating.

Recognition as a GFSI institution is accomplished through a comprehensive benchmarking process in food safety management systems, which are designed to ensure the delivery of safe food to consumers worldwide. A press release from the company says that Maple Leaf Farms was the first American duck producer to be certified by the Global Food Safety Initiative.
