Memorial Created For Former Warsaw Teacher Roger Haeck

Following the loss of science teacher Roger Haeck on Feb. 9, co-horts banded together to create a lasting memorial in his honor. The Limelight hydrangea tree, the yellow day lilies and the pink carnations surround a black granite stone on which is inscribed “Roger Haeck, Man of Science, teacher, colleague, friend.” Haeck, who taught at Warsaw Middle School for three years and then at Lakeview Middle School for 25 years, was very involved with middle school track, basketball, ski club, the Science Olympiad, the annual Lakeview Science Show, school improvement team, National Science Teachers Association and Hoosier Association of Science Teachers Inc. The memorial, which can be found inside the LMS courtyard, has been placed so that it can be seen through the window of Haeck’s room, a view he often used to keep an eye on school occurrences throughout the day. Pictured (L to R) are: Mary Haeck, Roger’s wife; Lisa Cavert, retired teacher; Scott Carmichael, teacher; Dan Wray, teacher; Mark McCollom, teacher; Chuck Cavert, teacher; and Katie Haeck, Roger’s daughter.
