Mentone Clerk-Treasurer Resigns; Caucus Called

Janick Norris

MENTONE – The clerk-treasurer of Mentone, Janick Norris, resigned from office as of Friday and a Republican caucus has been called to replace her.

Kosciusko County Central Committee Chairman Mike Ragan said the caucus is for eligible Republican precinct committeemen and will convene at 6 p.m. May 10 in the Mentone Council Chambers, 201 W. Main St., Mentone.

Norris was selected as the Republican candidate for clerk-treasurer during a town convention on Aug. 21, 2019, beating out Tammy J. Stoneburner. Norris then won the election in November. She replaced Barb Ross who had served as clerk-treasurer for almost 30 years.

Eligible members of the caucus, by statutory definition, are the Republican precinct committee members who have served continuously from 30 days prior to the date of the commencement of the caucus.

The Mentone clerk-treasurer will be elected by secret ballot of the majority of members of the voting caucus to fill the vacancy in the office. Candidates must reside in Mentone and be a Republican in good standing.

Declarations of Candidacy are available at the office of Kosciusko County Clerk of the Circuit Court, 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw, and must be filed with Ragan no later than 72 hours prior to the commencement of the caucus.

Eligible candidates will be allowed a maximum of three minutes to address the voting caucus.
