Mentone Fire Department responded to a house fire at 6966 CR 1000W, Mentone, at 11:45 p.m. Sunday. Mentone Fire Department Chief Mike Yazel said it was a total loss, but the structure is still standing. The Mentone Fire Department had a full assist from the Burket Fire Department and a tanker and some man power from Akron Fire Department. There were no injuries reported, but Yazel said two dogs were lost in the fire. He said they were on the scene until 3:30 a.m. today. The Red Cross assisted the family. Yazel said the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
