Michael David Cook

Michael David Cook of Nappanee, Indiana passed away unexpectedly at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 2022 at his residence in Nappanee at the age of 54.

He was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1968 in Warsaw, Indiana to Daisy Marie (Slone) Cook and Joe  Cook.  Michael was never alone being one of 11 children, he always had someone to hang with growing up.  He was a 1987 graduate of Warsaw Community High School.  Michael worked as a delivery driver for Ascot Enterprises in Nappanee for 16 years.

One of the best things in Michael’s life was spending cherished moments with his three children, grandchildren and family.  He was a gentle giant with a compassionate heart.  He finally met the love of his life in Beth Haas.  She was the one he was waiting for, and their paths finally crossed.  Michael enjoyed spending time with Beth and they did everything together, even watching his beloved horror movies with him.

He had been living in Elkhart County, Indiana for the past 12 years where he kept busy working and enjoying his hobbies.  Michael LOVED music and was known as the guru on Rock-n-Roll Bands and was an avid member of the KISS Army!  He could play music by ear, loved the Three Stooges and loved all things pop culture.  Michael could reference almost anything.  He was also a great artist, especially his comic style drawings.  He inspired his sister to become an artist as well as inspiring his daughter to pick up the guitar.  Michael was passionate about so many things in his life, but none more so than his family.  He was a loving son, father, PaPaw, brother, uncle and fiancé who will be dearly missed by all.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Evan Cook (Bremen, Indiana), two daughters, Camryn Cook (Bremen, Indiana), Kylie Cook (North Webster, Indiana), and four grandchildren, Bradyn, Brystol, Eva and Ian.  Also surviving is his mother, Daisy Marie Slone (Burket, Indiana), fiancée, Beth Haas (Warsaw, Indiana), three brothers, Bill Cook (Burket, Indiana), Richard Cook (Warsaw, Indiana), Roger Cook (Rochester, Indiana), and six sisters, Linda Vostrej Mareno (Gainsville, Florida), Rhonda Wright (Burket, Indiana), Kathy Sand (Warsaw, Indiana), Peggy Holmes (Burket, Indiana), Janet Rayburn (Burket, Indiana), and Jennifer Long (Carmel, Indiana).  He was preceded in death by his father, and his sister Barbara Cook.

Michael’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by Elder Arthur Haas.  Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 4:00 -6:00 p.m.  He will be laid to rest at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2022 with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw, Indiana.
