Milford Woman Arrested For Allegedly Battering Child

A Milford woman was arrested Friday on preliminary charges of battery to her own child.
MPD Press Release -Milford Police and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded Friday, February 27th, at approximately 2:17 p.m. to Ulrich Drive, Milford, in regards to an injured infant.  Multi-Township E.M.S. immediately transported the child to Lutheran Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Fort Wayne, in serious condition.  During the course of the investigation, officers determined that the child had suffered injuries indicative to blunt force trauma.  The mother, Madison McKenzie Jones, 18, was taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies and transported to the Kosciusko County Jail.  Jones was preliminarily charged with felony battery to a child under the age of 14.  Milford Police stated this morning that additional charges that will be sought against Jones this week with the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
The child is reportedly still in serious condition at Lutheran Hospital this morning.  The Milford Police Department was assisted in the investigation by Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies, Sheriff’s Detectives, the Department of Child Services, and the Indiana State Police.
The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office advises that the defendant’s charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
