A woman from Wabash is in critical condition following a police chase on Monday morning that spanned two counties.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office assisted Wabash County deputies after they were notified about a pursuit involving a 36-year old woman that was about to enter into the county. The chase was initiated due to concerns about the woman’s welfare.

The chase came to an end after the woman stopped in a field in the 4000-block of East County Road 1200 South in Kosciusko County, where officers forced entry into the vehicle after the woman was suffering from a possible self-inflicted neck wound.

Police say the woman was combative while they attempted to give her first aid. The woman was flown from the scene to Fort Wayne.

No other information is available at this time and the woman’s name is currently being withheld.
