New Bill Would Allow The Death Penalty For School Shootings

A bill inspired by the campus killing of a Purdue University student would make a shooting at a school grounds for the death penalty. The Tippecanoe County Prosecutor says he couldn't seek the death penalty for Cody Cousins of Warsaw because the situation didn't fall under one of the “aggravating circumstances” that allows prosecutors to seek the death penalty or life without parole in murder cases. Cousins pleaded guilty to fatally shooting and stabbing of Andrew Boldt, last year, was sentenced to 65 years in prison, but committed suicide in his cell.
