New Kroger app ranks food based on nutritional value

If you haven’t yet given up on your New Year’s resolution, a new Kroger app could help.

The app called “OptUp” aims to help customer make healthier choices.

It ranks grocery items with a score that is based on nutritional values. There are three categories– red, yellow, and green– to determine how healthy the item is.

Kroger officials say their dietitians and nationally recognized dietary guidelines helped them to determine the system.
