Newlyweds Killed In Crash Near North Manchester

    NORTH MANCHESTER – A couple that were married for eight days were killed Sunday when their vehicle hit a tree.
    At approximately 6:46 p.m. Sunday, the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department responded to a personal injury crash on Ind. 114, just east of CR 300W.
    According to a press release from the WCSD, the preliminary investigation shows that an eastbound vehicle, driven by Caleb N. Marks, 28, North Manchester, left the roadway on the south side and struck a tree.
    Reports from witnesses suggest that the vehicle was traveling in an excessive rate of speed at the time of the crash, according to the release. After striking the tree, the vehicle caught fire.
    Indiana 114 was closed for approximately four hours while emergency personnel and first responders worked at the scene.
    Both Marks and his passenger, Regina May Bruce, 39, North Manchester, were pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma.
    The identity of the passenger in Mark’s vehicle was not officially identified until late this morning. Wabash County Coroner Carol Whitesel was awaiting positive identification through dental records.
    Marks’ obituary from McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, indicates he married Regina Bradley on July 16, and that she also died Sunday. According to her Facebook page, Bradley was her maiden name.
    Her family was scheduled to make funeral arrangements with the funeral home today.
    Assisting at the scene was the North Manchester Police Department, Pleasant Township Fire Department, Wabash County EMA and Lifemed.
    The investigation is continuing.
