Notre Dame Awarded $12 Million Grant

A Notre Dame research center has been awarded a four-year, $12 million grant to work on advanced nuclear energy systems. The university has been designated an Energy Frontier Research Center by the U.S. Department of Energy. With that, it will receive funding to work to accelerate the scientific breakthroughs needed to build a 21st-century energy economy. The focus of the center, which includes participants from several other universities and a national laboratory, is advanced nuclear energy systems that may provide much more energy while creating less nuclear waste.
