Plane Crashes Near Shipshewana

An 18-year-old pilot walked away without injuries after the small plane he was in crashed into a propane tank. It happpened early last night near Shipshewana. Emergency crews were called to the 9500 block of West-450-North. The pilot, Jordan Stoltzfus, was flying the plane from the Goshen Airport when it lost power. The boy's father tells The Elkhart Truth his son tried to restart the engine, but it wouldn't work, so he attempted to glide into a field. The plane struck a propane tank before hitting the west side of a nearby building. Propane leaked out of the tank and emergency officials blocked off the scene of the crash until it stopped.
