Police Warn Public Of Green Dot Scam

Goshen Police are putting out an alert after residents have reported scam calls from someone asking for funds through Green Dot cards. The caller claims to be a government official and threatens legal action or IRS fines, saying the victim has won a cash prize and required to send a fee to claim the prize. The Goshen Police Department offers a few tips, including:
Hanging up or ignoring calls from numbers you do not recognize. Never send money to anyone you don't know. Avoid giving out personal or banking information over the phone or in an email. And recognize the scam if the caller tries to pressure you into acting quickly.
