An animal that was a popular zoo ambassador is no longer holding that title after biting a child during a birthday party.

WNDU reports 4-year-old African Serval at the Potawatomi Zoo reacted poorly to being touched by a toddler, but it was the first time the animal had any type of incident like this.

The boy suffered minor scratches to the head as a result of the encounter.

The Serval will no longer be a part of interactive programming as the issue is investigated.

If he doesn’t return to the ambassador program, the zoo would keep him as an off-exhibit animal.
