Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory is holding the open house for their new station on County Road 200 South on Saturday.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes a dedication for Fire Station 3.

Fire Chief Mike Wilson tells News Now Warsaw the Station was designed for 50 years of growth.

“We chose to go long-term aged…a building that will last the test of time, that’s why you’re looking at a brick and concrete structure with a metal roof.”

The staff has been stationed at the new location since September 12.

The station will be manned 24 hours a day with an ambulance crew of two and an engine crew of three.

“We can have up to four working on the fire truck and four working in the ambulance pay area,” Wilson explains.

Chief Wilson says they chose the location for the fire station to better serve Wayne Township, and potential residential growth.

“We used to be just the City of Warsaw Fire Department and we would contract to Wayne Township to provide fire apparatus. But in 2008-2009 when the Fire Territory, we encompass now the entire township,” he says. “With the annexation that we just did to the north, we’re covering about 68 square miles, where as we used to be about 49 square miles. So it’s strategically placed to handle the western corridor to the west if that ever gets built and to go clear to 350 East on the east side and handling everything across the south end of the township.”

Though you can see the station for yourself on Saturday, News Now Warsaw has some exclusive preview photos:
