Project Updates at Center and Buffalo, North Pointe Drive

Center and Buffalo Street Traffic Signals
by David Slone, Times-Union

The traffic signal modernization project at the intersection of Center and Buffalo streets is going well, according to Warsaw Street Superintendent Jeff Beeler.

The signal bases have been ripped out and new ones are being poured in. Wiring may take a few more weeks, but the whole project should be wrapped up in two to three weeks.

The project includes the installation of new black powder-coated poles, a new controller box and new ADA ramps at the sidewalks. Larger, lit street name signs will be added, and new LED street lights will be installed.

The previous poles were leaning, and the wiring and controller box were outdated.

Phend and Brown, Inc. issued an update to the North Pointe Drive rehabilitation project on Tuesday afternoon. This project is between West Mariners Drive and Husky Trail.

On Thursday, surface milling to remove the existing asphalt on top of the concrete pavement will be performed. On Monday, road fabric will be installed over the existing concrete pavement. HMA Intermediate will be installed over the road fabric. On Tuesday, HMA Surface will be installed.

Crews will also be working on the installation of pavement markings, sidewalks and concrete drive approaches.

Officials anticipate the project will be completed by November.
