If you have been looking for a ride to get to a destination locally with a service similar to Uber or Lyft, one will be getting started in a little over a week.

A ribbon cutting was held Tuesday for Ride Rescue, which is run by Leilanni “Elle” Deveraux from Fort Wayne. Deveraux says the service will get people to where they need to go within a 30 mile radius. The service will also be offered in Columbia City and Kendallville.

Deveraux hopes to grow the service over time to cover more areas and will also be implementing a shuttle service that could be used for those who need to go to places like Fort Wayne for various reasons. An app for Ride Rescue plans to go live on Sunday, August 15th, which is when service will start.

For those looking to apply to be a driver, you can visit the Ride Rescue website for more information. Much like Uber and Lyft, a background check will be taken and your vehicle will be inspected to make sure it is in good running shape.
