South Bend Common Council Member Charged With OWI

A hearing date is expected to be set for today (Mon) for South Bend Common Council Member Henry Davis Jr. who is charged with two counts of misdemeanor OWI after his arrest, early Saturday morning. Davis was pulled over along the US 20 bypass near the Crumstown Highway overpass after police say he was heading west in the eastbound lanes. According to court documents, Davis admitted to drinking, but insisted he was not drunk. He said he knew he was driving in the wrong direction, but didn't know how he got there. Police described his eyes as glassy and blood shot. They say he was unsteady on his feet and that Davis Jr. told them he has M.S. But, police say he failed multiple field sobriety tests, blew a .14 on a Portable Breath Test and refused a Breathalyzer test, later, at the police station.
